Renovation of the Cocos Dental Clinic

With our continuing presence on Cocos Islands, Carey MC was given the opportunity to undertake the dental clinic fit-out at the Home Island Medical Centre. The project identified several deficiencies with the lab and surgery area, as well as the aging facilities and their ability to maintain a sterile workspace.
Works Included:
- Purchasing and mobilization of goods to the island.
- Supplying and installing modern, specialist cabinetry.
- Decommissioning existing services and removing all wall-mounted fixtures and fittings.
- Running all services within wall cavities or in cabinetry.
- Removing existing floor coverings and preparing for new vinyl.
- Installing a new dummy wall to provide an additional sound barrier to the doctor’s office next door.
- Upgrading hydraulic and electrical services to cater to the additional load.
- Removing existing equipment and securely storing items that were being reused. All refuse from the project was placed into a container to be shipped back to Perth for disposal.
- Modifying doors to bring them up to building code.
- Applying new paint throughout.
- Servicing and commissioning all specialist dental equipment to ensure correct operation.
The client utilized Carey MC’s regional works experience to ensure a thorough project, delivering a turn-key dental clinic at handover.
As with all our works on Cocos Islands, Carey MC engages local labor and services, only bringing in specialist trades/consultants for tasks outside the local skill set. This ensures favorable outcomes for all stakeholders.
