Water Corporation required removal of 4 redundant water storage tanks and the associated pipes and equipment, including asbestos pipes
The scope of works included:
- Demolition of 2 x 225m³ concrete tanks
- Demolition of 1 x 1125m³ concrete Tanks
- Demolition of 1 x 615m³ concrete tank
- Removal of asbestos pipes and air monitoring
- Removal of piping, pumps and associated equipment
The removal of the redundant services required working around other operational services, which were often entangled with the redundant pipes. Carey was able to accomplish this quickly and with no damage to remaining assets.
The concrete was crushed to remove steel reinforcing, and the crushed concrete and steel was recycled. The site was cleared of all debris and levelled and rehabilitated ready for remediation to farmland.
The project was completed 2 weeks ahead of schedule and to the satisfaction of Water Corporation.
