Helping our client improve environmental considerations at their site
Location: Kwinana, Perth, W.A.
Client: Bis Industries
Duration: September to November 2017
Contract Type: Lump Sum
As part of their operations throughout Western Australia, Bis Industries manages an industrial terminal in
Kwinana – allowing for the transfer and handling of bulk products from sea to road and rail transport. As part of an upgrade to its facilities, there existed a need to convert an existing evaporation basin to a lined water treatment pond. Carey were awarded the contract to carry out the works on the site.
Our services included:
- Clearing of vegetation from the site.
- Draining of the existing basin and approved disposal of waste liquids
- Supply, place and compact backfill to 50% of the existing basin
- Excavate, shape and compact the new lined pond
- Manage the supply and installation of the new pond liner
- Install Site drainage works
The project required our team to work in and around the ongoing operations at the bulk cargo terminal – requiring frequent consultation between the works supervisor and the terminal manager to ensure both tasks could be completed without delay. This interface issue was managed without issue and neither the construction project nor the day to day operations of the terminal were delayed in any way.
